Oct.28 , Society once accepted but now sees as wrong

Letting kids play outside unsupervised is something that society once accepted but now sees it as something wrong. Back then, kids could leave the house in the morning and not come back until night time, no matter what age they were. The parents were almost never worried about them until later on in the future when harsh things would happen to those kids. Nowadays, its rare or weird to see kids outside unsupervised due to the many kidnapping and murders happening around us. Many parents now fear for their child's safety and go where they go, constantly checking up on them.  Today in class we worked on the worksheet from the previous day about the poems

Oct.27 seeing someone being mistreated

Prompt: The time I saw someone being mistreated was last year during lunch. A younger kid was trying to buy something from the drinks vending machine when a trio of boys around the same age as him went up to him. They were kinda cornering him, I'm assuming trying to get him to buy them something. When the boy refused, they pushed him into the vending machine and walked away laughing.  Today in class we turned in the one pager

Oct.24 , A time I couldnt stop laughing

A time I couldnt stop laughing was when my sister was driving me to school and I was really tired that day. I remember sleeping late and when I'm tired I tend to not think and found everything funny. So when me and my sister were just talking I kept repeating it in a weird voice and joking around. My sister found it funny and her laugh is contagious so I also laughed. We kept laughing the whole time because of each others laugh.  Today in class we continued with the one pager

October 23, Something or someone you admired also scared or challenged you.

Prompt: The time someone I admire had scared/challenged me was when my brother (who I really looked up to) was pushing me to work harder on my soccer skills. I was in elementary school and when I got into soccer, my brother would always help me out and push me to do better. I felt challenged whenever a game would come up and I would often try too hard at every game. The way I saw the world after was to always try my best at everything I do and to not give up.  Summary: Today in class we read a new poem and made a one pager

Describing birth experience

When my parents were describing my birth experience they never mentioned how long my mom was in there for or if my dad was there as well. Only thing I remember them mentioning was that I was born early in the morning, around 10 am, and that the doctors knew that I had a problem with my intestine. I'm not sure if it was immediately after the womb or a day later, but surgery was performed on me and I had to stay at the hospital for a few months. My parents would both take turns sleeping at the hospital with me for a few days every week to make sure I was doing well. A joke my mom made was that the doctors had fattened me up since the IV hook on my arm was never off, constantly feeding me.  Today in class we read another William Blake poem  I learned that poems can truly show a good story in just a few words. Also it made me think about my birth experience and what my parents, especially my mom went through. I will use this knowledge to remember that everyones birth experience is...

What I did over the fall break

Over the fall break I worked and hung out with friends. I would go try new restaurants and loved all the new food I tried. Im glad I was able to catch up on sleep and had more free time to do some things I have been pushing off. I got to see the trees changing as well and the weather getting colder. I enjoyed my fall break and was ready to go back to school.  Today in class we read Poison Tree by William Blake I learned that communication is key especially when it comes to emotions. Typically anger, you don't want it to get out of control. I will use this knowledge to better control my emotions. I saw how anger can affect people in a horrible way. I will use this in the future to not be like that.

How do you find time to enjoy your day, even when you have a lot going on?, October 10th

Prompt: Now that I'm a senior my days are always looking busy and stressful, now that I'm working a part time job as well, so it's important to find ways to stay stress free. The way I find time is to organize each assignment to 30 minutes (working one each assignment for 30 minutes). As well as taking a quick 5-10 minute break. I make sure to stay focused on this schedule I have so that I am not thrown off and so that each assignment is finished on time. I enjoy doing this and find that it works well for me to keep myself stress free in the last year of High School.  Today in class we took a test on the play "Fences" I learned that in relationships, both people have a role or feel pressured to be put into a role that may cause problems/arguments in the future. It made me think about future relationships and how I would make sure to push equality on both of us.

Words having a lasting impact on you, October. 9th

Prompt: The words that I remember having an impact on me was my brother telling me to stop thinking of what others think and do what I wanna do. He told me this back in my freshman year of high school just before school started. He was telling me everything about High school and things I would be going through. When he told me those words I made sure to always keep them in the front of my mind, not the back, since I felt the importance of that quote. Ever since then that quote plays repeatedly in my head whenever I start having doubts about something or am overthinking.  Today in class we presented our character analysis poster  I learned that each character is different and unique. The way my classmates see them and interpret them shows their personal thoughts and opinions, especially the way they drew each character. I will use this knowledge to see each person as they are and treat others with kindness.

Stepping out of your comfort zone, October 7th

Prompt: The time I had to step out of my comfort zone was when I started to talk to more people around me. I never really liked talking to others around me or at least was too shy but I decided that it would be better if I do. Junior and Senior year I started talking to others around me and even made eye contact with those too, this was a big step for me since I was very shy and awkward back then. I noticed how nice it was to talk to new people and make new friends and that encouraged me to keep talking to others. Since doing this, I see that I am almost not shy now and can easily talk to people.  In class today we worked on the project about our character analysis  I learned that each character has a different background and beliefs making them see things differently. I will use this knowledge to understand that not everyone will have the same beliefs or thoughts on things as me and I have to respect that.

A dream that felt real, October 6

Prompt: A dream that felt real to me was when I was running around my elementary school track. I remember feeling the wind and how hot it was outside. I then remember tripping over something and falling, which is where I immediately woke up. I looked around confused thinking I was actually outside there but eventually calmed down. That dream was the one that felt the realest  Today in class we read the book Fences  I learned that many peoples lives are different, especially back then. I couldn't imagine the hardships everyone went through and felt empathy. I will use this to remember to show people sympathy and to not be hard on anyone since I don't know what people are going through.
