March 31, Foods help individuals

Prompts: Foods help individuals understand who they are by reminding them of where they come from or their cultural background. Even when judged by others, food helps remind them to not be ashamed to show it and it's a part of their identity. No matter how hard they try to change, it still follows them and reminds them.  Today in class we watched videos  I learned that food plays a big part in culture and helps people find their identity. March 24, New Orleans episode Street Food

Prompt: In the episode, it talks about and shows the role of culture in food. Culture is what makes food special with specific spices and the stories that created them. Since culture is so important and its what makes food, people can have an emotional connection to it by it being something they grew up eating or reminding them or something. Yakamein is a staple food from the episode that shows this the best. Many people go to her to get Yakamein and always telling what it reminds them of or how it bring them to their culture.  Today we watched Street Food and completed a worksheet  I learned how culture can play a huge role in food, also bringing many people together. Food can also help people with challenges they are going through in their personal life and being people together.

March 23, Dish from your culture

Prompt: A must have in my culture is causa. In Peru, causa is a very famous dish, served cold that looks like a mashed yellow potatoes caserole with tuna in the middle. Its also served with a yellow chili paste, called aji amarillo, lime juice, and oil all that gives it a nice little kick taste. Its significant in Peru due to its patriotic symbol from the war of independence, women serving it to soldiers f or the cause, which means para la causa. Another reason is the slang it comes from, causa also meaning friend, showing its rooted in everyday life  Today in class we completed worksheet  I learned how deep culture goes and how it affects your life. It can change how you act, think, eat, dress, and many more.

March 10, one idea standing out

Prompt: During brainstorming, the strongest idea I came up with was that discovering internal struggles was a part of the purpose of the journey. I chose this because while on the pct trail, Cheryl was rethinking her whole life and while it kind of fell off, she was also recovering. She was doing this by being alone with her thoughts and being able to reflect on what her struggles were. March 3, Challenges of the claim-evidence-analysis

Prompt: The most challenging part of the paragraph writing for me was the analysis part. I struggle with seeing the difference between analysis and summary, knowing I had to write the analysis instead I didnt want to get it wrong. I find it more difficult to move beyond summary in my analysis. I think of both as the same thing, and struggle to figure out how to analyze without having at least a summary in there.  Today in class we did claim evidence and analyze paragraph  I learned that its important for people to go through personal growth. It can help better themselves and let go of past trauma or stress.

March 4, the importance of writing essays in your own words

Prompt: It is important for students to write essays in their own words because it can come off more real and they have the chance to really express themselves. Artificial intelligence is quick to generate words and essays, however they dont have the emotion and feelings students put into their work. This can also help students learn how to write essays that can help them in their future careers. Can expand their vocab and how they express themselves as well. This is why students should write their own essays instead of depending on artificial intelligence.  Today in class we talked about Wild and writing our own essays  Today I learned that its a good thing to learn how to comfort people. It can help them feel a lot better and ease them, as well as learning to handle emotions.

March 2 , Essay writing experience

Most engaging for me would be outlining and choosing the topic. I like to write about topics I feel strongly or agree the most with since that will make me more engaged in writing the essay.  Today in class we finished reading another chapter of wild and answered a couple questions  I learned that it's good to talk things out with people, no matter how uncomfortable it can be. That it isnt good to keep things in and to yourself, eventually building up and becoming worse.
