April 27, a factor that plays a great role in shaping my future career choice

Prompt: A factor that plays a great role in shaping my career choice would be the stability it can provide me. Another factor would be my genuine passion and interest for it, however I would need to choose a career that helps me live and I dont have to struggle so much. I would find passion in the career I chose and see where it takes me. Choosing stability may impact my long term happiness, just because the career might not be something I entirely enjoy.  Today in class we presented  Today I learned that choosing a career is very important and is something you should not just guess or randomly choose.

April 24, most exciting thing about graduating

Prompt: The most exciting thing about graduating that I am looking forward to would be not having to do any more school work for a whilenand just leaving high school. After all the years Im glad to be leaving. Another that I find exciting would be having a lot more free time and just the stress of school work being taken away for a bit, and having a new different environment. I would also be very excited to travel now that I will be having more free time either with friends or family. This all matters to me because its things I enjoy doing and have always thought about  Today in class we watch a video and answer some questions  Today I learned that its important to choose the right path you enjoy. It would help reach the goals you want to achieve and start really planning your life.

April 23, clothing identifying with culture and identity

Prompt: A style that I enjoy would be the alternative/ all dark clothing. I really enjoy seeing others wear that style and express themselves with it but I know others would be confused if I wore it. I used to dress like that and others didnt respond bad but now if I were to wear it , I would either get made fun of or lots of looks of confusion, others may support and tell me they like it.  Today in class we watched a film and continued on our project  Today I learned that clothing can hold identity and also the way someone expresses themselves. You can sometimes tell how people express themselves by the way they dress

April 21, film representing culture

Prompt: A film that represents my culture in a positive and meaningful way would be Dora and the Lost City of Gold. The film centers on Peruvian culture, the Inca civilization, and Quechua language which all shows the beauty and the importance. The film also respects Incan heritage which in other movies its normally treated as nothing. The movie also shows the beauty of Peru in different screen drops and little scenes. It also shows authentic cultural representation like the Incan myth of Parapata.  Today in class we worked on our project  I learned that stereotypes are everywhere but people can change them and show the beauty

April 20,

Prompt: In the film Born With It, stereotypes impacted his identity by making him believe something was truly wrong with him just because of what the other kids were saying. This made him feel bad about himself and want to isolate himself as well. This also impacted his sense of belonging by making him believe he didnt belong with the other kids and made him feel ashamed of himself.  Today in class we watched a short film  I learned that people go through with being stereotyped almost everyday. I will use this to break those stereotypes and prevent more

April 17, Perception of a city being changed

Prompt: A film that changed the way I saw a city was the 2002 Spiderman movie. When I had watched it as a kid I had never been to New York yet and had no idea what it was like. This movie made me think New York was a nice bright place where things were always happening. The city and culture was portrayed as a full picture, with showing how busy all the people are and how there is different cultures in such a big city Today in class we started our project  I learned that many films include different stereotypes and it made me realize how much can be stereotyped. In the project I will learn how identities can be stereotyped and harmful

April, 16 Filmakers using stereotypes

Prompt: I think film makers continue to use stereotypes because it catches the audiences attention and can give their film more attention. Also depends how they put the stereotype in the film, it could be comedic giving it more attention and sometimes love, for example the Rush Hour movies. This does not justify their use because it can still be harmful to those who are being stereotyped. After watching a film, the audience leaves with all those harmful stereotypes in their head and they can then express them or changes their views. Film makers using stereotypes is not justified and still creates maybe more harm.  Today I learned just how harmful stereotypes are and how it can impact someones life. I will use this to keep away from stereotypes and help break them

April 14, stereotypical films

Plot: The most stereotypical film I can think of is High School Musical. This is a movie/musical about high schoolers getting through high school and the many typical school group troups like nerds, jocks, cheerleaders and more. At the time it shaped how I viewed highschool to be, everyone separated in their own groups and hating each other. I used to think certain groups were very mean, though too high of themselves, things I thought would happen in high school, and more of the typical tropes. As more movies came out and I got older, my view on them all changed and I got a better understanding of how they tried to break the tropes.  Today in class we completed a writeable assignment  I never realized how common sterotypical tropes was in movies and common either. I learned how it all came from and now how new movies are trying to break them

April 13, How does hair connect to culture or identity

Prompt: My hair connects to my identity by showing how I represent myself to others. By having my hair down, the way I style it, the bangs I have, the frizziness and slight mess, how long it is. All of these build an identity where others can percieve who I am from the way I slightly have my hair in my face, as well. A moment my hair made me feel uncomfortable was when I thought I had done a good job styling it, until I kept getting told I look like I just woke up, questions why it was so big and frizzy, and people trying to give me advice.  Today in class we completed a worksheet  I learned that many people feel very different about their hair. They either have a deep feeling about it or dont care and do whatever they want. This will help me understand someone more

April 3, spring break with no limitations

Prompt: If my spring break had no limitations, I would get a plane ticket to the Bahamas and spend a couple days there enjoying the beach and nice weather. After that I would take another plane ticket to Italy and visit famous sites. I would bring my family along with me and some friends too. I would like to just relax and not think about problems. My time spent there would be nice and calm with no worries.  Today we completed commonlit  I learned just how beneficial eating insects are. I never realized how much protein and health they have,

April 2, Understanding of different cultures

Prompt: Seeing my classmates presentation helped me understand how different but also the same cultures are. I saw foods that were very familiar and ones that I never knew about but looked interesting. I got a glimpse of how each culture is and what is normal to them, making me see my classmates in a new light. One that stood out to me was my classmates presentation where everything in his household seemed to be freshly baked goods and consisted mainly of pies. I thought it was really interesting and made me wonder just how many flavors of pie there is out there.  Today we presented our powerpoints  I learned how each culture has their own unique way of making food and what is most important to them.
